Jeff Goldberg, Founder, Cali Bamboo joins Executive Growth to discuss that after a 4 year research and engineering career in Biotechnology, he took 2003 to do a personal sabbatical to contemplate, surf and travel Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and much of the USA – living in a van with his dog for most of this period. As a final stint he moved to Kauai, HI with his best friend and the idea for Cali Bamboo was born.
Cali Bamboo grew literally from his garage startup to the most disruptive company in the building product space. It stands as the only direct to consumer omni-channel technology platform, now the largest direct to consumer flooring and decking company in the U.S. with annual sales of more than $100M+ while leading the way in sustainable building products and corporate responsibility.
Through Brazen Ventures, he seeks to expand his entrepreneurial spirit as well as his ability to make a positive impact by seeding, incubating, growing, advising bold businesses that are pioneering and disruptive in their respective markets. The first company that was been seeded through this venture is – Ballyhoo Media which he co-founded and launched officially in Miami Beach Thanksgiving 2016. Ballyhoo Media is a new platform for out of home media that connects advertisers to undistracted audiences using proprietary technology from mobile LED video screen boats just offshore.
BISTalk ran for over 2 years as a drive-time show on ESPN radio in San Diego as part of their experiment in ‘alternative’ non-sports business programming. ESPN returned to all sports programming and BISTalk took it as an opportunity to join the 21’st century with a rebrand and a relaunch as the Executive Growth Podcast.
